First class performance with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie

Matthias Seilern • Feb 04, 2015

“The Deutsche Radio Philharmonie beyond symphonic routine”

König staged the … emotional depth based in equal measure on instinct and on the score whose instructions he passed onto the orchestra in a most inspiring way, thus propelling the orchestra to a remarkable performance. Fortissimo without noise, never-ending string melodies full of melancholy and sensuality, wind chords executed with utmost care, soloistic splendour. The orchestra blossomed, inspired by a conductor who didn’t have his head in the score but rather the score in his head. For a first class performance.
