Frauenkirche Dresden interior
This time Christoph König returns to his native city Dresden conducting the Dresdner Philharmonie . It is his first concert with this very fine and traditional German orchestra, and what makes this début so special is that when he was still singing in the famous Dresdner Kreuzchor, the orchestra was the main orchestra the choir worked with most frequently. Of course where there ties between some of the orchestra’s members and the boys of the choir, which makes Christoph König’s relationship with the history of the Dresdner Philharmonie so special.
The programme consists of Dvorak Fifth Symphony, Ravel Le Tombeau de Couperin, and the rarely performed and often neglected concerto for violin by Richard Strauss, featuring the wonderful Isabelle van Keulen .
